Humanity, Planet Earth, & Food

Understanding our connection to the planet through food

If you are new to my website and blog, welcome!!

This blog has been a work in progress these last few years.

I started this blog as a vegetarian, and now I am on a mission to learn how to become more plant based using cooking methods found all over the world.

I have been a big foodie all my life. Not only do I enjoy eating but the entire journey of cooking and making the food is one that lights my soul on fire.

Food brings people together. Food connects us to the earth and to each other.

For me it is the act of creating something that is going to nourish my body, mind, and “feed my soul”, as I like to say.

I have always enjoyed tasting and trying foods from other cultures and countries as it expands my perspective of the world, and shifts my view of flavors and what I can do with the food I create.

We live on such a beautiful blue pearl teeming with life. Life and culture that differs from one country to the next. As you travel the world the food changes, flavors change, produce changes.

Of course this has to do with climate, soil type, and what can be grown where, but I will not bore you with the details of different types of soil and yielding produce today; as fun as that would be.

Today I am just hoping to share my thoughts, my love of food, and my love for the earth with you lovely beings.

I have always been fascinated by food, my baby pictures can attest to that, as most of them are of me eating.

I think it is important that we understand where our food comes from, what it does for our bodies, and most importantly; understanding how our consumption is impacting the planet.

Humans are known to consume, and over-consume for that matter, but it does not have to be that way.

What if humans were known throughout the universe for the love they have for their planet, and the way they take care of their home. How wonderful would that be?!

Our ancestors understood their connection to the earth. They understood how to take what was necessary, and give back in certain ways that would assist in earths growth and evolution.

Our ancestors understood that the earth herself is a living being, and they developed a mutual symbiotic relationship. One of love, honor, and respect.

Overtime we have lost sight of what this truly means. As we continued growing in population, we began to forget this most fundamental, detrimental key.

Overconsumption became the norm, and overtime we began to forget that the earth was not designed for us to take and take without giving back. Not only that, but she deserved better, much better than how we have been treating her.

Now I am not saying I am perfect by any means. I am a part of the problem. I contribute to the overconsumption. I may take actions to minimize my impact on the planet, but that is not always enough.

We must collectively recognize what has been done to the planet, whether that is at our hands, or at the hands of others.

We must recognize and honor our duty to this earth. We must remember our connection to all things.

I believe we can remember. In fact I believe we are in the process of remembering.

No one said it would be easy, no one said it would be done overnight, but I believe it can be done. I believe we can do it together.

For far too long we have waited for others to fix the problem. Thinking someone else would come along and do the hard work for us.

What do we learn from that scenario? How do we grow as one together in unity and love for our earth, by sitting around and waiting for someone else to do that hard work? Who said it has to be hard?

I don’t know how else to say this, but if we do not get our sh*t together things will go from “oh it’s not that bad”, to “oh wow we really should have done something when we had the chance”.

It is now or never guys.

It is up to us to protect our home, our planet, our earth.

Our earth who is home to many many unique and wonderful species.

Again, I am not saying I have all the answers. But I do have the drive, passion, and love for this earth that is pushing me everyday to do what I can to learn how we can get back to that state of harmony and balance.

Humanity is capable of so many wonderful things. Not only that but we have the intelligence to become a society united in love and harmony with the earth.

~

I hope to use my words and actions for good, and for the betterment of our society. I hope to learn and share with you all in the process so we may come together and remember.

This is just the beginning of our journey together, and on the other side of it is the possibility of a world that is rooted in love and balance with nature.

Our ancestors are a reminder that it can, and has been done. Now it is up to us to prove just what humanity is capable of.

WE got this.

We don’t have to wait for the right time.

We can start right now.

And we can do it together united in our love for the earth and all living things.

Love and gratitude always,
