Chocolate Date Bark
Looking for a quick and easy dessert recipe? This is for you!
I got this idea from a lovely content creator I follow on social media. This is my take on her recipe!
Now what I love about this recipe is that you can really use up what you have in your pantry, there is no right or wrong way to make these! Use whatever floats your boat or gets your creative juices flowing.
Now I also personally prefer dark chocolate, but again use what you prefer and have on hand! Milk chocolate or white chocolate will work just fine.
Ingredients:
3-4 cups whole pitted dates
1/3 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup walnuts
1 tsp cinnamon
1 1/2 cup chocolate chips melted
1 tsp coconut oil (optional)
Salt
Other optional toppings: Salted pretzels, dried fruit, granola, or coconut!
Directions:
On a sheet pan lay out dates and connect together by smushing the edges together. Now most dates should be soft enough to just pull apart by hand and gently connect them on the pan, but if they are a little harder you may need to use the bottom of a glass to connect them together!
Once your date layer is complete, here is the fun part! Add on the toppings of your choice; I like to add dollops of the peanut butter, but you can also spread it out as an even layer over the dates.
Next sprinkle over your walnuts or nuts of choice.
Add an even pinch of cinnamon.
Finally you’ll want to pour your melted chocolate over your creation and spread it out evenly using a spatula. I like to add coconut oil to my chocolate, and I also use the double boiler method when it comes to melting the chocolate.
Once finished, place in fridge or freezer to harden up quickly.
Once the chocolate has almost hardened I like to add a decent layer of course ground salt.
Once hardened, cut into chunks and store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks, but they usually don’t last that long ;)
Enjoy!
